MEPIS - SimplyMEPIS 8.0 went final on Sunday...

...just in case none of y'all noticed.

Git to downloading.

Digg it:

MEPIS - Waiting on Lenny (RC-3), and antiX M8

Not to over-quote an old BTO song, mind you, but Warren *has* been taking care of business.

8.0 RC-3 is now available and, like always, you'll find it on our Western USA mirror.

You will find both SimplyMEPIS-CD_7.9.96-rc3_32.iso and SimplyMEPIS-CD_7.9.96-rc3_64.iso at the top of the testing sub-directory.

Report any problems with the mirror to "mepis dot mirror at gmail dot com".
I think you can figure out what to do to put all that together into a valid email address.

[UPDATE: 2009.02.13]
You'll also find Paul's antiX-M8 and antiX-M8-base final releases in the /download/antix/released directory, over at http://mepis.gabston-howell.org/.

I highly recommend your downloading it and giving it a try.

MEPIS - SimplyMEPIS 8.0 RC-2 is on our Mirror Site

Hi folks.

It has been a while, I know, but I thought I'd let you know that the most recent testing '.iso's are available from the mirror that I've been hosting on my server for about a year-and-a-half, or so.

You will find both SimplyMEPIS-CD_7.9.95-rc2_32.iso and SimplyMEPIS-CD_7.9.95-rc2_64.iso at the top of the testing sub-directory.

Report any problems with the mirror to "mepis dot mirror at gmail dot com".
I think you can figure out what to do to put all that together into a valid email address.

I'll be keeping up on the releases now; as well as attempting to back-fill all possible historical beta and final release '.iso's; and maintaining a bit more of my former presence in the future.

The family is doing fine now.

OPEN BSD - BSDanywhere 4.6 released

[Zurich, 5.11.09] We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of BSDanywhere 4.6 - OpenBSD at your fingertips.

As always, we release our OpenBSD 4.6 based images in two flavours: i386 (32bit) and amd64 (64bit).

http://bsdanywhere.org/download/

Here's a quick summary of the changes since 4.5:

  • Upgrade base system to OpenBSD 4.6 and packages accordingly. Please see the OpenBSD site for a list of changes since 4.5. OpenBSD 4.6 provides significant improvements, including new features, in nearly all areas of the system.
  • Replace Enlightenment desktop (E17) with ICEwm, for which we use a slightly adjusted 'icedesert' theme including BSDanywhere wallpapers. It starts quicker, is easy to customize and very stable.
  • Space we gained by swapping the window manager has been spent on adding the XMMS music player, the IRSSI chat client, the XFE file manager, the Mutt email client and the OpenNX client.
  • ddb, the kernel debugger, may now be invoked from the console using CTRL-ALT-ESC.
  • Last but not least we have great new artwork, provided graciously by Tim Saueressig!

If you like BSDanywhere help us to keep this service up and running by either buying an OpenBSD release set or by donating directly to OpenBSD via PayPal. Thank you very much!

Cheers,
Stephan

OPEN BSD - BSDanywhere 4.5 released

[Zurich, 6.5.09] We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of BSDanywhere 4.5 - enlightenment at your fingertips.

As always, we release our OpenBSD 4.5 based images in two flavours: i386 (32bit) and amd64 (64bit).

http://bsdanywhere.org/download/

Here's a quick summary of the changes since 4.4:

  • Upgrade base system to OpenBSD 4.5 and packages accordingly. Please see the OpenBSD site for a list of changes since 4.4. OpenBSD 4.5 provides significant improvements, including new features, in nearly all areas of the system.
  • Contains official, standard, unmodified OpenBSD kernel. Previously, we had to ship a slightly modified version of the OpenBSD kernel to make the boot off CD media less cumbersome. Thanks to the OpenBSD developer Kenneth R. Westerback this has been improved in OpenBSD 4.5! That's why we can now ship the standard OpenBSD kernel with absolutely no modifications.
  • Last but not least we have great new artwork, provided graciously by Tim Saueressig!
